1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Chirag Rai, trading as Chirag Studios (“maybe”, “we”, “us”), who run the maybe website and app. By creating an account or using maybe, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use maybe.
2. Who can use maybe
You may use maybe only if you:
- are at least 18 years old;
- are legally able to enter into a contract;
- are not prohibited from using it under any law, and have not been convicted of a sexual offence or an offence involving violence against another person; and
- have not been removed from maybe before.
maybe is available to invited testers only during our closed test. We may decide who is let in.
3. Your account
- You sign in with Google. Keep your Google account secure. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
- Give true information: your real first name, your real date of birth, and photos that show you. Your first photo must clearly show your face.
- One person, one account. Don’t share your account or create another one after being removed.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else is using your account.
4. How maybe works
Each day we show you up to five people. You choose “say maybe” or “not now”. Your “not now” is private and nobody is told. If you both say maybe, your photos become clear and you can each send one short first hello. Once you have both said hello, you can chat. You can report or block anyone at any time. We may change how any of this works as the service develops.
5. What you must not do
To keep maybe safe, you must not post, send or share anything that:
- belongs to someone else, or that you don’t have the right to share, including other people’s private details or photos without their consent;
- is obscene, sexually explicit, pornographic, or shows nudity, or that is harmful to children in any way;
- is threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or hateful, including harassment on the basis of gender, race, ethnicity, religion, caste, sexuality or disability;
- invades someone’s bodily privacy, or shares intimate images of anyone without their consent;
- impersonates another person, or deceives people about who you are or where a message comes from;
- is false or misleading, or is a scam, a request for money, or an attempt to sell or advertise something;
- infringes someone’s copyright, trademark or other rights;
- contains malicious code, or threatens the security of the service;
- encourages violence, self-harm, or anything illegal, or threatens India’s unity, security or public order.
You also must not: use maybe for anything other than meeting people for dating or friendship; lie about your age; use bots, scrapers or automated tools; try to get around the blur, the five-a-day limit or any other protection; or try to access other people’s data or our systems without permission.
6. Your content
Your photos, prompts and messages remain yours. You give us a limited licence to store, copy (for example to make a blurred version of a photo), process and show them within maybe, as needed to run the service. We don’t use your content for advertising. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for backup copies that are deleted within 30 days and records we must keep under our Privacy policy.
You promise that you have the right to share your content, that your photos show you, and that they are not made to look like someone else. You are responsible for what you share.
7. Safety and meeting people
- We don’t run background checks. We can’t guarantee who anyone is or what they intend.
- “Verified” has a limited meaning. It means our team compared a selfie with the person’s profile photos. It does not mean we checked identity documents, criminal records or character.
- Be careful when you meet. Meet in a public place, tell a friend where you are going, arrange your own travel, and leave if you feel uncomfortable.
- Safe Meet only shares a plan with a friend you choose. It does not track you, watch over you or call anyone for help.
- In an emergency, call 112.
We are not a party to your interactions with other users, and you deal with them at your own risk.
8. Reports and enforcement
You can report any profile, photo or message inside the app. Our team reviews reports. If someone breaks these terms, we may remove content, warn, suspend or permanently remove their account, and we may tell the authorities where the law allows or requires it. We may remove content or end access if you don’t follow these terms or our Privacy policy. We keep relevant records for as long as our Privacy policy says.
If you disagree with an action we took, or you have any other complaint, write to our Grievance Officer (section 15).
9. Closed test, changes and fees
maybe is a closed test. It may have bugs, go offline, change, or be reset, and data may be lost. We may pause, change or end the test or any feature at any time. Right now maybe is free and has no ads. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you first and you will never be charged without agreeing to it.
10. Our property
The maybe name, the Mo character, the design and the software belong to us or our licensors. You may use maybe for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, modify, sell or reverse-engineer any of it. If you give us feedback, we may use it without owing you anything.
11. Ending your account
You can stop using maybe and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if we end the service. What happens to your data is explained in our Privacy policy. Sections that by their nature should continue (such as 6, 12, 13 and your duty to follow the rules) continue after your account ends.
12. Disclaimers and limits
maybe is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will always work, be secure, or be free of errors, to the extent the law allows. We are not responsible for what other users say or do, or for what happens when you meet them.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim about maybe is limited to ₹1,000. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under law that cannot be limited, or any liability that cannot be excluded by law.
You agree to cover our reasonable losses if a third-party claim arises because you broke these terms, broke the law, or shared content you had no right to share.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. If we can’t resolve a problem through our Grievance Officer, the courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra will have jurisdiction, without affecting any rights you have to go to a consumer or data protection authority.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will update the date above and tell you in the app. If you keep using maybe after a change, you accept the new terms. We will also remind you of these terms, our Privacy policy and our rules at least once a year.
